This section provides some general guidelines for selecting custom wheel components. Understanding the benefits and trade-offs of the various components can help you wade through the seemingly endless combinations of rims, hubs, spokes, nipples, and lace patterns. Our general guidelines are based upon experience, manufacturer recommendations, and some common sense. Keep in mind these guidelines are not meant to be rigid rules of selection.
